Seven months have passed since then, and our departure is getting closer, we've been working full-time to achieve this dream, but we could not have done it without all the help and support received from people who believed in us.
Ok, it's true, we are not yet departed and surely there will be many more in the near future which deserve our gratitude, but there still seems the time of the first felt thanks!
The President is a unique piece, and for this priceless, a bike from the early 30's ready to prove the value of the old crafts, and honor the memory of its shapers. The Koga Leisure Lady is younger and has not ever faced the street yet, we're sure it will go great.
Thanks also to the man who for months has been working on these bikes, to prepare them to face a journey so challenging, and that is Michael Massa and his fantastic workshop Pedalando. The work is going great and the bike will be ready soon, so expect soon a post of presentation.
We come then to thank everyone who donated on our Shop/Donation , giving up some whim to grab a souvenir of the trip, but most of all, we know, to support us and our project. In chronological order: Francesco Fanale, Stefano Rapisarda , Elisa Fecci , Giusy Boggio , Marco Giannotta, Antonio Martino and Gallura Travel.
A huge thank you also goes to Steven Hermans of Caravanistan , for the valuable information and interesting points on Central Asia. Steven was one of the first to believe in this project and therefore occupies a special place.
In the same category (the informants) , it should be absolutely cited Dato Chipashvili, from the Georgian ONG Green Alternative, for key information on large dams in Georgia. Green Alternative will be a fundamental support for the realization of the reportage on this issue.
Honorable mention goes to Alessio Giuliani, musician, anthropologist, inventor, problem solver. Alessio is in effect part of the project, providing advice on the method of data collection and setting interviews, organizational support, and in many other fields. We hope it will be part of the expedition, at least for the first two months. Visit his website ( www.oslesia.com) and listen to his beautiful music.
Without them we would be leaving naked. Even here in chronological order:
Extrawheel: to equip ourselves with a trailer was crucial to the viability of the trip, the President has no connections for the fron rack and rear wheel overload could prove fatal for the precious frame. We then began to investigate various models of bicycle trailer on the market, and with Extrawheel it was love at first sight. Extrawheel is not a trailer, Extrawheel is the trailer! The lightest and most versatile on the market, is, as the name reveals, a kind of spare wheel. Same size as the wheel of the bike, if necessary, may act as an emergency wheel . Its nature makes it almost imperceptible to tow and is able to tackle any type of terrain. We can not wait to test it in the field and tell you about our experience, waiting for our take a look at this video.
We would like to say that the disponibility of Extrawheel, in the person of Radoslaw (the inventor of the trailer), has been, and still is, huge, with fast responses from the first email. Apparently a typical Polish attitude, in a while you'll see why.
Ferrino provide us with camping equipment and part of the clothing (almost everything except the properly cycling clothes), we are excited by the idea and can not wait to test it in our upcoming training exits. Expect then very soon a post dedicated only to Ferrino, with an overview of all the material. There still doesn't seems true that we'll appear soon as testimonials on their official blog.
Even with the understanding with Crosso was immediately perfect, immediate response and great disponibilty. We are very keen to personally thank Kasia who is committed to the utmost to obtain the best sponsorship conditions possible for us.
